Dr Saurabh Srivastava to join the board of CSIR Tech (2 June 2011)

Dr Saurabh Srivastava, head of AcceleratorIndia's Advisory Board has agreed to join the board of CSIR Tech Private Limited (CTPL). CTPL is a technology commercialisation company that intends to commercialise the technologies and intellectual property from the labs of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, primarily through the spin-off route.

Dr Srivastava joins a distinguished board that includes Dr. Vijay Kelkar, an eminent economist with a distinguished career in public sector as Chairman of the Finance Commission, India and Union Finance Secretary and Advisor to the Finance Minister, India and Dr S. Sivaram, Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Fellow of CSIR at the National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), Pune where he served as the Director.

CTPL is set up as a for-profit private limited company that would leverage private investments and entrepreneurs to pursue technology commercialisation and entrepreneurship. CTPL aims to create new high science ventures by identifying suitable spin‐off opportunities, developing them further and then spinning them off as start‐up enterprises.

CTPL will work closely with CSIR, one of the world’s largest publicly funded R&D organizations comprising of 37 laboratories spread across India and focusing on a variety of disciplines and industries.
